Animal hospital faces charges
The California
Veterinary Medical Board has filed additional charges of negligence and
deceit against All Care Animal Referral Center in Fountain Valley. In a
complaint filed Oct. 25, the board says All Care Director Robert Rooks lied
about the qualifications of his staff, kept faulty records of surgical
procedures and subjected a dog with leg pain to unnecessary spinal surgery.
Rooks' attorney said the allegations, like earlier charges filed in 2001,
lack merit and largely come from disgruntled former employees. A San Diego
judge is expected to rule on the case after hearings in April.
